Demolition pace may quicken for KK River project

To speed up the pace of removing houses for a Kinnickinnic River flood-control project - and to cut costs of maintaining and securing the houses while vacant - the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District has proposed demolishing nine residences in the next few months rather than the slower dismantling of the structures for recycling and salvage.

Driver arrested on allegations of eighth OWI



A 50-year-old man who was reported driving erratically Friday night on I-94 near 84th St. was arrested by Milwaukee County sheriff's deputies, marking the eighth time the man has been arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, deputies said.

Airport jet fuel leak estimated at 9,000 gallons



An estimated 9,000 gallons of jet fuel leaked from a Shell Oil Co. pipeline at Mitchell International Airport in late January and a contractor will begin excavating near a taxiway early Friday in search of the pipe break, a Shell spokesperson said Thursday.
